Anointing Cloth

When a member is sick in Gods church, it affects the church as whole. It’s our responsibility as a member, when sick, to seek out the Elders of the church for anointing and its all of our responsibility to pray and comfort the sick among our brethren. True Religion is to visit the sick, widows, orphans, and those that are in prisons, and give them council in Gods ways and give them hope for a brighter and healthier future.

The sick are commanded to go to the Elders of the church, and in the best privacy the Elder can find, he must anoint with olive oil and pray together with that person on their knees and ask for Gods intervention with their illness. The person is showing their faith in Christ, by that member seeking out a Minister, they are acknowledging they owe everything too Christ, including their health.

What if there is no Minister or Elder in my area who can do the anointing? We have anointing handkerchiefs or napkins that a minister has prayed over and can be mailed to the person in need, there are instruction normally included the handkerchiefs so the session may be done in the correct way, and with the correct attitude.

May anyone anoint someone in the church that is sick? It has typically been the responsibility of the Ministry too fulfill that role in the church because of what it says in James chapter 5:14, (if anyone is sick among you, call for the Elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil). Our doctrine based is based upon scriptures such as James 5:14, and Mark 6:13 which gives the Elders this very important responsibility, a responsibility that clearly must be enacted with only the best of intentions and with a dedicated heart.
